I’m a big fan or preserving unique momentos of my child’s life. For example, during each holiday, such as Mother’s Day or Christmas, I head on over to a Hallmark store to pick up a recordable card. It’s pretty neat, you can record your child’s voice and then a touching song will play after the recording. Depending on what stage your kid is in, you can really preserve some good memories, such as them learning “mama” for the first time or singing a song they came up with on their own. One time it was his first babbling sounds I was able to record. Preserve this awesome cards, perhaps even having them draw on them first. It will mean a lot to you when you play them back next year!
You can also purchase recordable ornaments during Christmas time. I like to buy them right after Christmas when they are on sale for less than $3 each. They make great gifts or can be used the sequential Christmas with your own kids to preserve those great memories!
