Potty Training Adventures

I am potty training my son. I have been doing so for many months now, but it has been very gradual. There was no need to rush him. Now that summer is here I have time off to step it up a notch. He is starting preschool in the Fall and must be potty trained by then. He knows how to use the potty (not the baby potty, actual grown up one) just fine, and has for awhile now. But diapers were a “crutch” for him and that stopped this week. With the exception of nighttime.

The techniques I used up until now have pretty much been natural and have not been anything read or from professional advice. Now I decided to do a little research and see what other moms were doing. I read that pull ups and other disposable training pants are also like crutches because the kid doesn’t realize they are wet and will continue to pee in them. Besides, he is allergic to them anyway so I didn’t get them. Instead, I decided to go for the soft, thick undies for toddlers. I got to say, I love them. They are working well and I highly reccommend them to potty training parents. The kid can feel when they are wet, too!
