Potty Training a must for growing kids!

Potty training assumes great important just after the initial years of children, when they have started growing up, and are looking to find their own footing in this world. It is exactly this age when the parents need to assure that their kids inculcate healthy habits of living. And the best logical way of achieving this objective would be to train them for potty training.

There are trained professionals available in the market to do this kind of job for you, or you can even consult a pediatrician for proper advice. But the best thing in my opinion would be to train them yourselves, and let them show by mock doing potty exercise. It will be easier for kids to understand when they see the precise method of potty training illustrated by their parents.

And the same could be followed up by making the kid do the same under your watchful eyes and correcting their posture if they are faulting somewhere. The reason why I stress on parent’s taking up this responsibility because, the kids would always feel assured and confident in front of their parents, which might not be the case with a stranger around. It is important that the kids must feel reassured that what they are being asked to do is good for them, and would not harm them in any way.

Here are some tips to make potty training go smoother.
1. Offer a reward if your child goes potty. Give an m and m if they go potty or have a sticker chart. I have even seen one family give a sticker each time the child went potty and place it on the potty chair itself to decorate it.
2. Dress your child in clothes that they can get down themselves. Do not put them in onsies, jeans that need unbuttoned, belts, or bibs. The best clothes for potty training are sweats outfits that they can easily pull up and down by themselves.
3. Never yell at a child who has had an accident. They are learning how to do it. Remember it most likely took you a while to learn this skill as well.
4. Do not start training until the child has an interest in it. If you are making them go, they may come to resent it and will not go.

Often parents can not wait for their child to get potty trained. And who can blame them as diapers are so expensive. But if you are gripping about how expensive diapers are, maybe you should not have had kids. Let children get potty trained on their time schedule, not yours. If you are making the child go or are taking them every hour, then you are only training yourself. A child who does not want to do something will not do it.
A lot of parents think that once a child is 2 they are ready to train. Wrong. If they ask to go potty or show an interest in it, then that is fine to work with them. But chances are your child will not want to do it until they are 2 1/2 or closer to 3. Do not push it. I have seen several parents push it when they turn 2 and at age 3 they are still not potty trained and no where close to it. So instead of trying to save money by potty training them early, they waste money by buying pullups which are so much more expensive. So to sum in up, let children tell you when they are ready to potty train.
